VARANATION: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Monday, inaugurated various projects under Smart City Varanasi including GHAT revitalization work and façade restoration in Lima Ghats, basement parking and parking in townhall, Bio-CNG Plant in Gai Ashray Kendra, Shahanshahpur.
According to City City spokesman, RS 50.92 Crore funds were spent on the implementation of these projects.
To facilitate tourists and visitors, Ghat revitalization work and façade restoration work carried out in Dashashwamedh, Sheetla, Ahilyabai, Munshi and Darbhanga Ghats with a cost of Rs 2.02 Crore.
In the work of building the building facade located in Ghats, especially acrylic paint, graffiti, stains on deleted buildings and dilapidated stones, balconies, fences repaired and replaced.
In addition, repair of cracks, removal of cement plaster in buildings and the installation of lime plaster and lemon washing was also carried out.
While preserving the building as inheritance, the façade was restored to its original design and glory.
Repair work and replacement of dilapidated steps have been carried out on Ghats, which with original images provided by replacing thin stone cladding and CC bases in Dashashwamedh Ghat.
Under Varanasi Smart City, basement parking and garden on the ground floor have been built in city halls in Maidagin Crossing at a cost of Rs 23.31 Crore to reduce traffic congestion and resolve parking problems.
Parking has a capacity of 150 four wheels and 200 two wheels along with smart parking solution facilities, equipped with firefighters and CCTV supervision standards.
The reconstructed park will have facilities such as open gyms, yoga parks, jogging lines, gazebos, herbal gardens, automatic seller zones, toilets and drinking water.
Beauty work and rebuilding the chakra pool located in the Sigra area is carried out at a cost of Rs 2.59 Crore.
Aeration fountains, open gyms, pergola, gazebos, jogging tracks, lines, toilets, and drinking water facilities have been provided along with the construction of paved limits around the pool.
A Gaushala (Cowshed), which is operated by Varanasi Municipal Corporation with a capacity of 300 cows located in Shahanshapur Village, King Talab Teab.
It has around 30,000 livestock within a radius of 20 km with an average emission of 5 to 10 kg of cow manure.
Traditionally, cow dung goes to waste because it is not used by occupants.
Biomass produces greenhouse gases in the atmosphere through natural decay while biogas are green fuel and as a substitute for diesel, gasoline, wood, it makes a net reduction in greenhouse gases.
Funds from RS 23 Crore are invested to overcome this problem and with the aim of increasing the income of the villagers, the BIO-CNG plant has been built, which is located in Gaushala Shahanshapur.
The factory will buy cow dung from Gaushala Shahanshapur and the nearest villages for its consumption.
The factory production capacity is 2.5-3.0 tons of CNG, 25-30 tons of manure and 40,000 liters of liquid fertilizer per day.
