Warsaw: Poland reported 794 deaths related to Covid on Wednesday, the highest number in the fourth wave of Pandemi, a Deputy Minister of Health said, adding that number could be the result of delayed reporting because of the Christmas holiday.
More than 75% of those who died were not vaccinated, said Waldemar Kraska.
“I think we are currently experiencing the peak in the number of people who are dying,” he told private television channels in the Polsat news.
Poland has experienced a high level of daily infection, although the Omicron variant has not gained the footing there.
On Wednesday, Poland reported 15,571 new Covid-19 infections, 13% less than a week ago, said Kraska.
On Tuesday, the country only has 25 confirmed omicron cases.
