Police detainees 3 days for VMC staff accused

Vadodara: Two employees of Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), who were arrested for uploading a fraud list of fraudsters under the Pradhan Mantri Beware of Yojana, allegedly received financial assistance, the crime crime said.
The police are now trying to ascertain whether the duo does take money to enter the name of the fraud in the list.
Local courts on Friday restore Pramod Vasava, Executive Engineer and Nishith Pithva, software experts, up to three days of police detention.
This case was registered at the Navapura Police Station on Thursday and the investigation was then transferred to the crime branch.
“We will question the people whose names appear in the fake list and try to find out if the defendant took money from them,” V R Khair, the crime branch police inspector to Ti.
He further said that if it was determined that they received money, their bank account would be checked more evidence.
“We have taken their laptops used to make and upload a list of fake recipients.
Investigations will also focus on involvement that might occur in VMC officials or other politicians in fraud,” Khair added.
VMC City Engineer Shailesh Mistry on Thursday filed a complaint of criminal violations of trust by civil servants and forgery against Vasava and Pithva after their fraud appeared.
Beneficiaries under PMAY were selected in computer lotteries held on August 7 as part of the five-year completion of the Government Vijay Kupani.
Lottery was carried out to distribute 382 housing units at an event held at Sir Ijirao Nagargruh.
The defendant secretly changed the actual name to replace this with the cheat on the fresh list on the VMC website.
Pithva blamed Vasava and said that the latter asked him to change the list.
