Police in Judicial custody to harass sexual minor

Thiruvananthapuram: A police officer, desired in connection with a case related to sexual harassment of a little girl, returned in judicial custody by the district court and additional session (Pocso) there on Thursday.
Anoop, 39, from Kallippara near the Palode was the defendant.
He was a civilian police officer who was bound to the Valiyamala police station under the rural police district.
According to the police, the crime allegedly committed when Anoop worked as CPO at the Vithura police station two years ago.
He was accused of sexual abuse of a 16 year old girl.
The complainant was the daughter of a couple who had approached Vithura police two years ago for marriage problems.
While the couple was separated, Anoop retained the close relationship with the mother of the complainant.
He even became regular visitors to his house.
During this visit, the defendant tried to abuse the girl sexually.
Vithura police registered a case four months ago after the girl, who is currently 18 years old, gave her statement in this case before the child’s welfare committee official.
The girl from the girl was also ordered as a second accused in this case when she mentioned in her complaint that the latter did not take any action even though it was told about the sexual advances accused.
Anoop anoop bail application was rejected by the Pocso Court here after he approached the State High Court.
The high court directed him to surrender before the investigative officer.
Even though he applied for a guarantee, the Special Prosecutor was Kattayikonam J K ajit Prasad strongly opposed the guarantee.
