Letter: The police restored the digital video recorder of the vivah packaging at Kadodara GIDC where two people died and more than 100 were saved after a large fire broke on Monday.
The police claim they will be able to recover video recording from it which will help know exactly how the fire begins.
The camera has been installed in various locations in the building.
This unit is a six-story building that has two levels of the basement.
The police were surprised when they were told by the factory inspector that the unit was not registered as an industrial unit but a residential building.
Wahyu has caused various questions about how the building gets an electrical connection needed for industrial use.
“The type of electrical connection used by the unit is unclear.
Our officers asked this aspect,” said an official from Dakshin Gujarat VIJ Company Ltd.
(DGVCL).
The police will request an investigative report on an electrical inspector based on the next action will be taken.
Meanwhile, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team conducted a building inspection to find out the exact cause of fire.
“It is unclear how the fire starts,” said an official.
The FSL team collects samples and checks the building used for the production of packaging materials and bags, as a warehouse and worker’s residence.
Abdul Kadir Abdul Samad Bharvaliya (23) from Uttar Pradesh and Mohan Kripakant Ameri Jha (38) from Bihar died in the incident.
Bharvaliya tried to get off the building by hanging a long piece of cloth from outside because many workers tried to escape.
Jha was trapped in the basement and suffered severe burns.
The fire starts from the lower floor and spreads to the upper area.
A large number of items stored on the stairs also caught fire making it impossible for workers who live on the top floor to get off.
