'Political Lens': PM Modi Slam Selective Anger of Violations of Human Rights

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that seeing human rights with eyes on political benefits and harmful losses of these rights and democracy.
He said some people tried the image of the denting country on behalf of human rights.
Speaking on the 28th Human Rights National Day Program (NHRC), PM Modi said some people saw human rights violations in the same type of incident and the same person did not see human rights violations in other incidents.
“Some people try pictures of denting countries on behalf of human rights, we need to be alert about it,” said PM Modi.
“Human rights are deeply violated when they are seen in politics, seen through political lenses, weighed with scales and political losses.
Such selective behavior is equally harmful to democracy,” PM said.
“There are other aspects related to human rights, what I want to discuss today.
In recent years, some people have begun to interpret human rights in their own ways, see their own interests,” he added.
In his speech, the prime minister quoted a number of steps taken by the government to provide basic needs such as toilets, gas cooking, electricity and home for the poor and said this raised their aspirations and made them more aware of their rights.
He said by making a law against ‘Triple Talaq’, the government has bestowed new rights to Muslim women.
PM Modi also talks about steps such as 26 weeks of maternity leave and more stringent law for rape to highlight the empowerment of women’s dispensation.
The event which marked the 28th NHRC Foundation Day program was also attended by the minister of house Union Amit Shah and Chair of the National Human Rights Commission Arun Kumar Mishra.
Previous Prime Minister said that NHRC played an important role in our nation in protecting human rights and marginalized dignity.
NHRC is regulated under the protection of the 1993 Human Rights Law on October 12, 1993, for promotion and protection of human rights.
The Commission recognizes all forms of violations of human rights, conducting investigations and in cases of human rights violations, recommending public authorities for compensation payments to victims, steps for repair and other laws on incorrect civil servants.
