PANAJI: The Country Pollution Control Board of Goa (GSPCB) has allowed Goa waste Management Corporation (GWMC) to intervene in technology at Solid Waste Management Facilities (SWMF) in Cacora for Odor, Effluent Emissions and Management Control.
GSPCB also provides relaxation in the buffer zone around SWMF.
The technology intervention proposed at the facility includes a double door system for tip that is added with bio-filters, in-feed bunker systems instead of open tip floors, all waste to be handled and stored in a closed warehouse, two digester tanks to facilitate waste treatment during Maintenance, drying solar for compost and removal of moisture and storage of RDF moisture and effluents processing plant.
GWMC has sent an application for approval updates to set (CTE) and the same is in the process.
Curchorem-cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) has told the council that he held a special meeting on November 26 to discuss and decide on the buffer zone for SWMF in Cacora.
CCMC has asked the council to violate staff to warn the board about this issue.
Thus, the Board staff gave CCMC direction regarding “guidelines about the supply of buffer zones around the processing and disposal facility” at a meeting.
The Board was told that according to the ideal guidelines for the distance of 500m must be maintained as a buffer zone, but in the case of the case of a 200 m minimum distance from the facility can be considered subject to the condition to meet the specified standards.
Prescribed by the State Pollution Control Board.
The CCMC sent a special meeting on December 8 to the Board and said that it had decided that the buffer zone had to be frozen by considering that no closest standing structure, including the house or property polytechnic polytechnic property came in the SWMF buffer zone in Cacora.
Like per minute from the meeting, CCMC asked the council to consider the buffer zone proposed as a place of residence and other structures before the government acquired land to establish SWMF in Cacoris and SWMF had been prepared on the land that had been reclaimed after remediation and dumping old waste dumped at the location .
“After the deliberation, members received a proposal submitted by the CCMC in connection with the amendment of the buffer zone for SWMF.
Then it was observed that the agreement for the facility had expired and while providing an update for approval to determine the above conditions must be prescribed,” GSPCB said.
The proposed technology intervention in this facility includes a double door system for floor tip with bio-filter, bunker system in meals, two tank digesters, sun drying warehouses for compost and RDF moisture release and waste treatment plants
