Rajkot: Bad Safety Standards at Soda Factory Abu Saurashtra Chemicals in Porbandar resulted in industrial accidents on Wednesday that killed two people and injured three other people.
It was allegedly by one of the injured workers Bharat Pandavadara (24) in his complaint to the police.
Based on Pandavadara’s complaint, the police on Thursday ordered six people, including the Head of the Safety Department and Senior Engineer, from Ash Soda, which was part of the Nirma Group, for guilty murder (no murder).
On Wednesday, two people – Hiren engineers agrawat and Pratap Odedara factory workers – killed and three others were injured when the overhead container was filled with raw materials, fell on them.
This is the second industrial accident at the factory in the past two months.
After the incident, the work at the factory was suspended under the order of the Probanda district of Probanda a M Sharma.
The accident occurred when work occurred on the iron platform where containers with stored raw materials.
Those were ordered including the Head of Safety P Suresha factory, Head of Production A K Singh, Senior Engineer Deepak Yoganandi, Senior Mechanical Engineer Manish Rathod, Production Engineer Rashid Badi and Almames Engineer Hiren Agreat.
According to police complaints, Pandavadara, Jayesh Joshi, agrawat and other workers on duty when the accident occurred.
He stated that they had complained to their safety team that the iron platform where large containers were placed trembling.
But the security team did not examine it and told workers to continue working because everything was normal, the complaint was added.
“Within minutes, the container along with the iron platform came crashing into killing agrates (29) in place and injuring other workers,” said Pandavadara.
One of the injured workers Pratap Odedara (30) gave up on his injuries at the hospital.
Joshi and Pandavadara were in care at Porbandar Hospital.
“Workers do not have a safety gear despite complaining about poor safety standards in the unit.
The accident occurred because of the negligence of the engineers in the unit,” Pandavadara accused his complaint.
“We have brought Badi and P Suresh to be questioned,” In-Charge Police Inspector H P Dhandhaliya, the Kamlabaug police station, told TII.
The defendant had been ordered under Section 304 (anyone who committed guilty murders who did not amount to murder) and 287 (negligent behavior in connection with the machine) from the Indian criminal code, he added.
