Lisbon: Portugal has completelyoculated 80% of the population of Coronavirus, official data showed, became one of the most vaccinated countries in the world when the authorities gradually dropped most of the restrictions of Covid-19.
According to reuter trackers, Portugal and the United Arab Emirates have the same complete level of vaccination, together lead the world.
The southern European nation, which at the beginning of this year fought for what was the worst coronavirus surge in the world, was vaccinated by around 8.2 million people from the population of only more than 10 million, the DGS Health Authority said on Tuesday.
Almost all more than 65 adults and half of young people aged 12-17 are now fully vaccinated, DGS said.
Everyone over the age of 12 is eligible to receive a vaccine in Portugal.
“I’m not worried if we (the world) number 1, 2, or 3,” Head of the Portugal Vaccination Task Force, Deputy Admiral Henrique De Gouveia e Melo, said that after visiting the vaccination center near the weekend Lisbon.
