PANAJI: Goa Post has begun using a foreign package shipping service, which allows strangers to stay at hotels in Goa to take advantage of the courier pick-up service for international shipping bulk orders.
This document was conducted at the hotel where guests stayed with the help of telephone guidance from the post staff.
It will save the problem for guests to travel to the post office and wait in the queue to order their package.
“Tourists in Goa sometimes buy a lot of things and then don’t know what to do with them.
That’s where we come up with a solution,” said Senior Post Supervisor, Sudhir Jeshere.
“We are targeting foreign customers directly by binding with hotels for parcel service.
Now people don’t have to go down to the post office for international parcel.
Instead, we will provide facilities at the door of Goa,” Jakhe added.
In addition to saving the difficulty of arranging transportation and carrying their bulk orders to the post office, the Doorstep pick-up service eliminates the need to wait in the queue to fill out the form and pay shipping costs.
Banners inform about foreign package services have been installed in various hotels in Goa with aid channel numbers listed on it.
Anyone who wants to send an international package can only contact the number and post staff will help them in calculating shipping costs, fill out the custom clearance form and guide them to the nearest post office.
“For bulk orders, we will also arrange pick-up facilities and packing packages,” Jakhere said.
Or, the hotel owner or manager can also call a post to cave for services and posters attached to jurisdiction will provide pick-up facilities.
This initiative starts from October 16 and so on, and so far, there are nearly 150 hotels in the state that has been issued by the Goa post for this service.
“Other hotels interested in being included in our network are welcome,” Jakhere said.
