Liricist Prashant Ingole, known as songs like, ‘Malhari’, ‘Ziddi Dil’, ‘Udhal Ho’ and others, sunbathing in the success of his latest song titled, ‘Ganpati Dance’.
In an exclusive interview with Etime, he opened about working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the people he saw in the industry, the upcoming project, and more.
Quote …
What’s the story behind the ‘ganpati dance’ song? There is no story behind it and that’s the story (laugh).
In fact, I made another song in our league and my music producer produced something extraordinary and suddenly I felt that we had to use the same rhythm and make songs for ganpati, because the festival was on the corner.
And this hook line ‘Ganpati Dance’ has been with me in my heart for years, so the song was made in just three days of flats.
What kind of reaction did you get for it? I broke all the obstacles and created something new every time I came up with an independent song.
That is what people say.
But, for me, I will only follow the current now.
You have written lyrics of songs like, ‘Malhari’, ‘Ziddi Dil’, ‘Udhal Ho’ and others.
Which one song is closest to your heart and why? ‘Malhari’ and ‘Ziddi Dil’ are very close to my heart.
The latter gave me the opportunity to work with India’s biggest artist, Mr.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and ‘Malhari’ gave me the opportunity to prove my courage to this living legend.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
How does it work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali? He is magic and madness together.
Very real and amazing to be part of the projects.
He is very focused that his vision and his majesty makes you push your limit.
And we all have seen the results of his madness – both ‘Khamoshi’, ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, ‘Guzaaris’ or ‘Bajirao Mastani’.
I just admire his madness and hope to mena more songs for him in the future.

We have several legendary lyricians in this industry.
Is there someone you see? I like Gulzar sir; The brilliance is too big.
Even Javed Akhtar Sir is very good with his simple words.
I have become a fan of Anand Bakshi Sir too.
These three likari experts will always be my favorite.
Apart from your songs, which is a Bollywood song that you really like for the lyrics? I really liked ‘Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin’ by Amitabh Bhattacharya.
After ‘kiss’, you released your second album ‘Angel’ with Angel Levada.
How do you work with him? He is very extraordinary and focused and too talented, with a pure soul.
The whole album is about him and his journey in my words and visuals.
What is next? I will explore more songs and magic on independent circuits.
I have around 24 songs again to be released and some of them are great collaboration with some amazing and talented Bollywood singers.
I hope I get support from the media and listeners as they have supported so far for my previous works.
