Rajkot: Bullet’s shot triggered panic in the traffic jammed ravi area in the city on Tuesday afternoon when a 27-year-old pregnant woman was shot dead in his house by his ex-husband.
At 1pm, Sarita and her partner who lived in Pankaj Chavda was having lunch when accused of Aakash Maurya breaking into and shooting her from the village-made gun.
Sarita, who was seven months pregnant, died in place because of heavy blood loss.
Sarita and Maurya, both Gorakhpur’s native residents at Uttar Pradesh, have separated around one and a half years ago.
He came to Rajko with an acquaintance and met the Pankaj.
They began to live together and he runs a beauty salon at his house.
Maurya Ramanuj’s father had a readymade clothing store in Gorkhpur and Sarita used to work there.
He and Maurya fell in love and married.
However, disputes began in their marital life.
Fed up daily quarrels, Sarita left Gorakhpur and came to Rajkot.
The initial investigation showed that Sarita had taken Rs 3 Lakh from their home in Gorakhpur when she came to Rajkot.
Three months ago, Maurya came to Rajkot after learning that he lived with the PANKAJ.
He met Sarita and there was a bitter fight for money, police said.
On Tuesday, Maurya hired a pedicab and went to Ravi Park.
After shooting Sarita, Maurya ran out of the house, leaving weapons in place.
The Pankaj tried to arrest Maurya and chased him because of distance.
But Maurya took a rickshaw and escaped.
Pankaj then saw his neighbor Kunal Chudasama go to the car and told him about the murder.
Chudasama and Pankaj began to take a pedicab in the used car.
On the way, Chudasama also told the traffic police near the Indira Circle about the murder and asked them to remind the police control room.
“The traffic police also entered their car and followed a pedicab towards Madhapar Chokdi on Jalan 150 feet.
More police teams also come from various directions,” police said.
After a seven km pursuit that lasted 40 minutes, Maurya finally Nabbed.
“We are investigating this case in detail and trying to get a family background,” said Manoharsharsh Jadeja, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).

He has been friends with the driver and took his cellphone number.
He asked the rickshaw driver to wait about 15 minutes and go walking on the route to Sarita’s house.
