Mumbai: The best has issued a tender to get 1,900 buses fully electricity, indicating one of the largest electric bus fleet expansion in the country.
This will publish tenders in the next few days to get 200 Decker Double, which will also be fully electrical, said the source.
“We want to make almost 50% of our electricity fleet in 2023,” Lokesh Chandra’s best general general manager said on Monday night.
“We have floated tenders for 1,900 buses which will cover 1,400 full buses 12 meters, 100 mini buses and 400 bus midi,” he said.
The maximum period, according to the tender notice, to get 1,900 buses is one and a half years, with a 25% procurement of new electric buses (475 buses) for Mumbai in six months, 25% in the next six months and 50% afterwards.
The state government electricity policy calls for public transportation that maintains a 15% fleet as ‘electricity’ in 2025.
Chandra said that the best has taken this target seriously.
At present, it is best to have a charging station in four bus depots, but will soon improve this facility to all 27 depots.
Meanwhile, the BJP group leader in BMC Prabhakar Shinde accused the deviation in the best tender process for digital tickets, and said that a company was reported to be liked by the contract.
