Vadodara: Four residents of Ajwa Road were punished on Monday for stopping a Dalit man who lived in the same environment from using a narrow lane in the area, throwing caste-based violations on him and attacked him in August 2018.
Special Judge Court (Cases of Atroocity) SC Gandhi Ordered the four convicts of the Gopal Machhi, Bharat aka Revlo Machhi, Jayesh aka Lalo Machhi and Ramesh Machhi to be in a simple jail for two years and fined RS 5,000 each.
The court also requested four inmates to pay compensation for each RS 2,000 for Parmar Jayesh complainants.
In accordance with the details of this case, Parmar was stopped by four convicts on August 12, 2018 when he would buy a milk bag on his scooter.
They discussed Parmar using Casteist slur and asked him not to use the lane.
Then, they beat Parmar using pipes and Bharat aka Revlo hit Parmar with sickle on his head.
Parmar has become unconscious because of a sad injury and taken to the SSG hospital for treatment.
He had given a statement to the police based on the case of attack, causing injured, wrong restraint and under various parts of the caste and the scheduled tribe (prevention of atrocities) acted at the Bapod police station.
All four attackers were arrested and then tried in special courts for cruelty cases.
“There is a lot of evidence against the attackers and eyewitnesses has also continued towards them.
The court upholds all the submissions made by prosecution for punishing them,” said the demands of the public prosecutor B Purohit.
Four attorneys of convicts have asked the court to be soft with them considering their economic background and not punishing them.
The court, however, rejected the argument by stating that the four attackers had forgotten their moral and social responsibility with their actions.
The court also stated that the attackers even forgotten the message of compassion and non-violence Mahatma Gandhi against living things so that the demand for defense lawyers was unacceptable.
