Rajkot: Rajkot District Police on Thursday property installed worth RS 64.5 Lakh Gangster Nikhil Donga and his aide Piyush Kotadia under the provisions of Gujarat Control of Terrorism and organizing it on Thursday.
This may be the first time the police have requested the provision of GujcoC to attach the properties of the defendants under the law.
The properties attached include homes in Gondal and a plot of land in the Shapar-Veraval industrial area, said Sagar Bagmare, police supervisor assistant (ASP), Jetpur.
This property is bought by Kotadia with a part of the investment originating from Donga.
In March this year, Donga had escaped from police detention from G K General Hospital in Bhuj, Kutch, while the police were assigned to continue to watch him asleep.
He was then arrested from Nainital in Uttarakhand.
Dongga shifted to Palara Bhuj prison in October 2020 after he was found to have a ‘dinner’ with his aides in the gondal sub-prison in the Rajkot district.
After the attack on Gondal prison, a complaint was submitted against 15 people including Donga with Gondal police and the investigation was carried out by Bagmare.

According to the police record, Donga runs a squeeze racket from the gondal prison.
He was ordered under the Gujcoc law along with his gang member.
He has 117 cases registered with him including murder, issued threats, extortion, among others.
