Noida: Breakthrough in talks between representatives of the farmers and the Noida Authority Team was seen after a marathon meeting between the two parties but Thursday ended with the continued agitation outside the Noida Authority Office, where farmers had camped for the last four months.
The farmers claimed the government team had agreed to their three main demands but decided not to call protests because they had not received the document signed.
Senior Noida officials who are authorized to tighten the details of negotiations but claim “resolution” has been reached.
Farmer leader Sukhvir Khalifa, who is currently hospitalized, said there was a “distrust” and “doubt” among the farmers about promises made.
“Officials agreed before but now Dilly-Dallying on providing signed documents.
Protests will continue until we get the document signed,” he said.
Khalifa, who was dismissed from the hospital at night, reached the protest location and said that he would remain in a hunger strike until the demands of farmers were fulfilled.
Other farmers, Ravi Chauhan, who had a hunger strike, was taken to the district hospital.
Sudhir Chauhan, one of the protesters, said after a five-hour meeting on Wednesday which continued until 10pm, another round of conversation was held on Thursday afternoon.
“They have agreed to three of our main demands – hand over 5% of the plots to farmers whose land has gained since 1977, increasing quantum leases and maintaining the characteristics of farmers out of the map policy except to increase a height of 15 meters,” he said.
“We have asked authority officials to provide written documents signed by the authority designated to us.
However, on Thursday night, the situation changed because they were not ready to submit written documents.
We also want that some farmers sitting in protests can be handed over Plot 5% to send positive messages but it’s not done, “he added.
The CEO of Ritu Maheshwari said the Noida Authority would comment “only when Dharna was appointed”.
The Aceo Praveen Mishra, who led the talks with farmers along with two officers about special tasks, said this problem was almost resolved but the details would only be given on Friday.
