Sydney: Australian authorities on Friday rushed to track hundreds who attended the Taylor Swift album party in Sydney last week which had become an event that spread as cases in this country reached a new high pandemic for the second day in a row.
Covid-19 infection, including the new omicron variant and further transplants, has spread in pubs and nightclubs as a social distance limitation after a higher level of vaccination.
Apart from the waves in the case, Scott Morrison’s Prime Minister said Australia had entered the “different pandemic phase” and put aside locking to contain the spread of the virus.
“The case number is no longer the actual size metric is what it means for serious illness, (intensive care), hospitalization, pressure on the hospital system,” Morrison said during a media briefing on Friday.
He said early signs showed the omicron variant could be less severe than other variants.
At least 97 cases, including some of the potential Omicron, has been detected among people who attend the Taylor Swift theme party.
More than 600 people who check in on the venue must test and isolate themselves but officials are marked maybe there are more guests.
A record of 3,820 cases reported in Australia on Friday, with Bulk in the most populous state in New South Wales (NSW) and Victoria, exceeded the previous highest around 3,400 the day before.
The NSW authority has warned of everyday cases can reach 25,000 in the end of January with the authorities looking to accelerate the launch of a booster vaccine shot to counter the threat of omicron tension.
Health officials blame meetings in pubs and clubs to “get rid of fast” in the case.
“Some of them have caused a super deployment event,” said the official Health NSW Jeremy Mcanulty.
Meanwhile, Victoria, was alert after Omicron’s infected person attended a busy pub and hotel in Melbourne.
Australia has reported around 243,000 cases and 2,134 deaths since the pandemic began.
