Ranchi: On the occasion of international human rights day, the People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL), a human rights organization, wrote a letter to the governor to explain the increase in police brutality in the state and empty public interest institutions.
The letter was mentioned about empty posts in the state level commission.
“The Chair of the Chair at the Jharkhand State Commission for Women, for the protection of children’s rights, the State Human Rights Commission and the Jharkhand State Information Commission are related,” the letter said.
The letter was also taken to pay attention to repeated instances from police brutality in the state.
Citing one such example, the letter stated, “Lathi police demands that the JPSC candidates who take part in peaceful protests.
It is important to note that protesters only run their rights to show peacefully and have the voice they hear.” It mentions that the incidence of custodian deaths, fake meetings and the atrocities of the police increased in the state without measures taken against guilty officers.
It also highlighted the delay in the formation of police complaints authorities in accordance with the guidelines mandated by the Supreme Court.
Before handing over memorandum, members formed a human chain at Albert Ekka Chowk and raised a similar problem through placards, banners and posters.
