Ranchi: With the days to go for Durga Puja, the district government has not carried out a fire audit in Pandal.
While fire safety officials said that they would start inspections in the following days, the committee said that they had not been communicated anything in this matter.
Speaking with Toi, the station is responsible for the Audrey House police station, Dilip Ram Keshri, said, “We have not started an inspection but it will be done in the next two days.” Asked whether there were instructions from the district administration have been given in this case, he said, “We have not been instructed but I will ask Monday with senior officials.” Puja organizers said they installed fire extinguishers in their respective pandals.
“Before we open the pandal, we will install fire extinguisher in all the places needed to avoid any accident,” President Bhartiya Yuvak Sangh Bakri, said Bazar Ashok Choudhary.
Asked whether district officials had examined Pandal, Choudhary said that no one visited Pandal and they managed everything alone.
“Previously, this inspection was used to be in advance before.” Toi tried to contact district officials on the delay but repeated calls to senior officials missed.
Ranchi has witnessed two large pandal fires in the past few years – one at R Ratu Sporting Club Queen Pandal where about 70 meters Sqft was destroyed in fire and in 2018, the pandal in the Kishoreganj area was on fire.
