New Delhi: Tata Motors hopes to capture various customers with the next shot, said a top company official on the sidelines of the opening.
The latest offer from Tata Motors is positioned as an entry-level SUV, sitting under Nexon in the hierarchy.
Vivek Srivatsa, head of marketing for PVS and EVS, Tata Motors, expressed trust in co-existence and developed from Nexon and punching tandem.
He said, “There are no products on the ground under the sub-compact category which has the characteristics of the original SUV.
With punch, Tata has tried to plug in the gap.” Available in four trims, Punch comes with a traction control system, offers 187mm Ground Clearance.
Standing 3840mm length and width of 1800mm, light off-road gene blows reinforced by 370 mm of water flow claims.
There is no fact that denies the overall expansion of the SUV market.
According to Srivatsa, the global SUV market has grown throughout the world and in recent years, the market size here has doubled more than 30% in India.
Punch is the second car on Alfa architecture.
“The large part of the Altroz and Punch development cycle is taking place together,” said Srivatsa.
Launched at the beginning of 2020, the story of Altroz growth stumbled by Covid.
The company, however, has posted strong sales lately.
With more than 1 lakh unit produced, Altroz ordered more than 20% of the space in the premium hatchback segment at FY22.
Prices reveal a maturity blow mid-October and are expected to be similar to Altroz.
“With a punch, we hope to attract various customers.
The catchment area is expected to be broad.
Our expectations of high blows,” Srivatsa added.
Altroz and Punch underpin the same alpha architecture.
Stand up at a length of 3.8 meters, a shorter blow from the dimensions of Altroz.
According to engineers, certain changes have been made to the platform to shorten the length, increase soil cleaning for larger drive heights, and longer suspension trips to hold bad roads.
Altroz offers a variety of powertrain – 1.2-liter gasoline is sucked and turbocharged and 1.5 liter diesel.
Hatchback only comes with a choice of only manual transmission.
Punch, on the other hand, is present in 1.2 liters of natural aspiration gasoline engines with the AMT manual and Gearbox.
“The 1.2 liter of natural aspiration machines are the most sought after powertrain in our hatchback.
Progressive diesel penetration under the challenge, especially in the compact segment.
We will advance with what we think will be the most popular choice,” said Srivatsa.
Srivatsa does not rule out the diesel option for punch.
He said, “But if we see the possibility of growing a volume with an alternative powertrain, we will do that.”
