Pune: The Chakan police are looking for three people because they allegedly extort RS8.25 lakh from the Memo Dealer based in Mhalunge Village near Chakan.
“One of the suspects is a history of Sheeter, while the other two are involved in the agricultural-related business in the Chakan and Manchar area,” police said.
According to the police, the suspects issued a terrible consequence threat to the dealer in November 2018 and took RS15,000 from him.
They did not stop at that time and began collecting HAFTA (protection money) from Re 1 per kg memo from 2018.
Inspector Dashrath Waghmode, who was investigating this case, said they had not arrested the suspects.
“The complainant continued to give Hafta to them from 2018.
He was not advancing in the past to register a case against them so that we could not follow up the suspects.
Now he has filed a complaint, we are looking for the suspects and try to arrest them immediately,” Waghmode said.
Police said further investigation of this case was still ongoing.
Senior officials, including Police Commissioner Pimpri Chinchwad Krishna Prakash, have held many meetings with industrial representatives in the past to overcome their security related problems.
