Pune: Two men intercepted the PMPML bus and misused and attacked the driver claiming that the vehicle dangerously crowded their car while driving to the BRT corridor on Jalan Pune-Satara at around 8:30 a.m.
on Wednesday.
Bus driver Sudhir Mohan Kagade (38), a resident of Katraj, suffered a head injury after the men beat him using a blunt object, police said.
Kagade then submitted a complaint with police Sahakarnagar for violations under section 353 (violence or criminal to prevent public servants from disposal of their duties), 332 (voluntarily cause injury), 504 (intention of intention) and 34 of the IPC.
Senior Inspector of Swati Desai told Ti on Thursday that the police accessed CCTV recordings from cameras close to the place and obtained a car registration number.
“We have been looking for detailed cars from the regional transportation office and looking for two suspects.
Until now, we have no instructions about who they are,” Desai said.
He said the bus headed to Swargate from Katraj and stopped at the Ahilyavi bus stop under Flyover Dhankawadi.
The two men in the car were driving behind and would follow the bus, which then began to move to the right to enter the BRTS corridor.
It leaves a small room for a car to maneuver because the bus driver fails to see it.
The two men then went ahead and stopped the bus.
“They took out the driver and attacked and harassed it,” Desai said.
