Pune Man caught the Delta variant after infection, 2 doses

Pune: The researchers have come to a 28-year-old health worker from Pune-based Hospital who captured the Delta Coronavirus variant after he had previously been infected with Covid-19, and was fully vaccinated.
There are two other cases of doctors infected three times with Coronavirus.
The first is a 61-year-old doctor from Delhi and the other is a 26-year-old Medico of Mumbai.
After being first infected, Pune Man had a moderate level of antibodies two weeks after recovering when he was tested negatively.
The man then took the first dose of Covishield and then the second dose four weeks later.
A month after receiving the second dose, the patient had a fever again and was tested positively on the RT-PCR test.
The infection of reinfection and breakthrough vaccines seems more clear to health workers because of their high exposure to covid patients, research teams from DY Patil Medical College, hospitals and research, and the CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), New Delhi, part of the part of SARS-COV-2 Genomic Consortium India (Insacog).
Dr.
Vinod Scaria, the main scientist at CSIR-IGIB, told TII that this study reported a very rare reinfection case after the patient developed hybrid immunity after covid infection and full vaccination.
He said that hybrid immunity is expected to provide better security compared to infection or vaccination itself, and therefore this case is rare.
“Hybrid immunity should increase cells and antibodies B against the variant,” he added.
Dr.
Aayahus Gupta from Dy Patil Medical College told TII, “Follow-up of rare and unusual vaccine breakthrough cases and reinfection, especially in high-risk front-line workers, needed.” Dr.
Shahzad Mirza, a microbiologist at Dy Patil Medical College, said, “We sent nasopharyngeal samples of patients from post-vaccination infection episodes to IGIB for genome sequencing, where the Delta variant was confirmed.” The research team found this case in April this year, when Delta holds in India.
“One of the other infection configurations which we met was a patient infected with SARS-COV-2 after the first vaccine dose and again after the second shot,” said Dr.
Gupta.
