Pune: The airport police arrested a 22-year-old man on Friday after allegedly stabbed a small girl (17) several times and tried to strangle him, after he refused to establish a relationship with him.
The girl suffered several injuries as a result of the attack and was accepted at a local hospital.
He was declared out of danger and recovered and is expected to be dismissed on Sunday.
Dnyaneshwar Nimbalkar, a resident of Chandannagar, tried to strangle the girl to death.
He also stabbed him with a knife several times on his back, chest, stomach, and legs, after watching the afternoon on Friday, in the Khulewadi area in Chandannagar, a short distance from the Lohegaon Air Force Station.
The police added that Nimbalkar had been charged with Section 341 (wrongness) and 307 (murder attempts) from the Indian Criminal Code.
The girl, a student, has known the nimbalkar for some time and established a relationship with him, but stopped talking to him for several months, police said.
“Nimbalkar face the girl about not responding to his call and did not meet him.
We have recovered the knife and cellphone from the defendant,” Airport Police spokesman said.
