Pune: A 28-year-old software engineer from Yavatmal died of a severe head injury after a hit-and-run accident in Bavdhan early on Sunday.
The accident occurred between 3.30am and 4.15 in the morning when the victim, Akshay Vinod Thakary, returned to his flat on Jalan Senapati Bapat (SB) on his motorcycle.
“Thorary wore a helmet, but the impact of the accident was severe and caused a fatal head injury,” an officer from Police Hinjewadi told TII.
“The possibility of visibility is very low because thick fog causes accidents to be ruled out,” the officer said.
On Saturday night, Thakary went to his friend Umesh Chaudhari Flat in Mahalunke and went home around 3am.
Chaudhari said that after half an hour, he and other friends tried to contact Thakary on his cellphone, but there was no response.
“After some time, unknown people answered the call.
He told us that our friend met with an accident on Jalan Bypass Katraj-Dehu near the Vallonia community in Bavdhan and no longer,” Chaudhari said.
Thakanke’s friends immediately went to the place.
“There is a thick layer of fog.
I have trouble riding a motorcycle to reach Bavdhan from Mahalunke,” Tharakare’s friend told Ti.
When they reached the place, they saw Thakane lying unconscious on the road with a short distance helmet.
“We then told the police.
Hinjewadi police reached the place and took Akshay to the hospital.
He was said to be killed by a doctor,” Chaudhari said.
