Pune: Pune Rural Police on Friday arrested a 24-year-old woman on charges of killing her daughter (3) and her son (2) on Wednesday before leaving his home in the colony of construction workers in Shiravali Village in Mulshi Taluka.
“Puna Solanki, the woman who was arrested, strangled her daughter Chanda, and Anand’s son, to death with a rope and left their bodies in the bush near his house,” said an officer from the PAUD police, citing investigations.
“The body of the children was found on Thursday afternoon.
Their mother was detained from her brother’s house in Lonavla.
Her husband, Sanjay Soanki, has submitted a complaint,” the officer said.
“We questioned the woman who pushed her to commit a crime,” Police Inspector (PI) Ashok Dhumal from the PAUD tax tax said.
“In his initial statement to the police, her husband said the woman was susceptible to an attack on anger and a winding behavior against their children.
We are also examining these aspects in the ongoing question,” the officer told toi.
He said Soanki and his family shifted to Pune from Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh in November last year.
“After working at Alandi for two months, they began working at the construction site in Shiravali since January 3.
The family provides accommodation in the worker colony near the location,” he said.
Dhumal said the complainant used to go to work, while his wife would remain back for their children.
“On Thursday, when the complaintion reached the house for lunch around 1pm, he found that his wife and children were not there.
He waited and then began to ask about them in the colony.
He and other workers look for them inside and around the colony, “said PI.
According to Dhumal, when he could not find them, he also tried to contact his brother-in-law at Lonavala.
“But the last one responded to his call late at night,” he said.
The officer said on Thursday too, when the complainant could not find his wife and children, he returned to contact his brother-in-law in the afternoon to find out if he was there with both children.
His brother told the complainant that he came alone in his house and no children.
“Solanki told his brother-in-law to ask Puna about the whereabouts of their children.
The woman then told her brother that she had killed and threw away the body of the two children in the forest behind their house in Shiravali,” the officer added.
Dhumal also said that the complainant once again began to look for his children.
“At that moment, the nephew of the complainant told him that on Wednesday he saw his aunt with Chanda and Anand.
He also showed direction and said Chanda was crying, because Puna dragged him,” said Dhumal.
The complainant went there and found his son and his daughter lay in the bushes.
“They were strangled with a rope,” he said.
