While talking to TOI after holding a convention at Udho Nangal in Amritsar Punjab Regency on Wednesday, Secretary General KMSR Sarwan Singh Pandher said the “successful” farmers in making the Bharatiya Janata party government in the center of revoking it in the agricultural law center.
However, he said, there are several other demands that are “just as important as” and must be addressed.
“We want a hundred percent of the neglect of farmers’ loans and workers, compensation and work to the next relatives of those who have died during the agricultural struggle, plus payment of sugar cane contributions.
For receiving this demand, we will start Rail Roko from December 20,” Pander said.
He said for now, KMSC will immediately begin agitation throughout the state and Roco will continue until further announcement.
Other KMSC Ranjit Singh Kalerbala said that during the convention, they pondered protest modalities, by saying their demands also included old age pensions and affordable food granules for all.
Pandher claims that a large number of agricultural women have confirmed their participation in the Roco train program.
“We will begin the agitation of Punjab, which can then spread to other countries,” he said.
Zorawar Singh, a local farmer, added, “We don’t like sitting on a cold winter train but the government forces us to take such steps.” He said farmers had to sit on the road on several Delhi borders and only then did the government receive their demands.
“Why does the government do not consider farmers’ problems and not solve it before? It will save them a lot of problems, but we are ready for the next phase,” he said.
