Mangaluru: Management of private universities in Mangaluru has decided to conduct self-assessment tests for faculty members.
This is because the teacher has been locked up in the online class for the past half a year due to a pandemic, and has not taught in the classroom for months.
“This assessment test will provide ideas to each member of the teaching faculty where they stand, and what improvements are needed.
This test will ensure the academic knowledge of faculty members,” said Deputy Chairperson of the Foundation who carried out educational institutions.
This was done for the first time for the college faculty, and some have taken the test.
The chairman said that the college faculty did not teach in the classroom, and locked up in their homes.
Online classes are done using the presentation of power points and other modern teaching methods.
“So the assessment itself will carry out SWOT analysis and show strong and weak points,” said Deputy Chair.
Written tests are included in the assessment.
The faculty must also take classes, which will be watched remotely by the expert panel.
The panel will assess the performance of the faculty, and they must sit for an interview with the panel after the class.
This exercise will become personal, and the findings will not be published.
In addition, its own assessment will also help promote the junior faculty to senior position.
“A faculty member who has fewer teaching experiences, may have more abilities than senior faculty members.
Some faculties become stagnant after a certain period in the field of teaching.
The test will help us promote the Junior Faculty to take higher classes or coaching for tests Competitive like Neet, Jee, or CET.
This is an opportunity for every faculty member to find out their abilities in the field of teaching, “said Deputy Chairperson.
