Quota Scrap EWS in Medical College Recruitment: Activist

Written by news2in

Nagpur: The medical department and the Narcotics Department (MEDD) has told the charging of 202 professor’s position and associate professor in all government medical colleges in the state.
Of these, 24 posts have been provided for more economically weaker parts (EWS).
Posts will be filled through the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC).
A local activist has objected to the decision to allocate 24 posts under the EWS quota when candidates will have a minimum payment of around RS1 Lakh a month, while the feasibility is up to RS8 Lakh per year.
Medd has advertised 91 POSS PROFESSOR and 111 posts from professor associates under 20 specialties from general drugs to public medicine for each recruitment drive.
According to the norm, 10% of the advertised seats are included in the EWS quota.
However, separation under the two ranks shows posts under the EWS quota more than the specified limit.
Under the Professor category, 11 posts are reserved for EWS, while 13 is for Associate Professor.
Ideally, the post to be ordered should be 9 and 11, respectively.
Medical Secretary Saurabh Vijay did not respond to TOI calls and messages.
Atul Khobragade, an activist associated with various classroom groups backwards, has demanded canceling the quota calling it ‘conspiracy’ to eliminate Candidates SC / SC / OBC from the career progress scheme.
“Basic qualifications are Doctor of Medicine (MD), MS or DNB with 3 to 4 years experience as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor.
In both required qualifications, candidates produce at least RS1 Lakh per month.
How this matches the EWS norm,” He asked.
Khobragade said the Professor and Associate Professor posts must be available in the open category.
“Already, there is a large stack of candidates for SC / ST and OBC in college medical recruitment.
The government must accelerate their recruitment.
By ordering the EWS seat in this way, the government only shows that it is not willing to bring candidates SC / SC / OBC into the mainstream, But set aside it.
By putting this chair under the open category will provide a fair opportunity for all to be applied, “he said.
Khobragade added that since 24 posts had been provided under the EWS quota, SC / ST and OBC could not apply for them, while it easily became “only for open category candidates.”
