New Delhi: Opposition parties on Wednesday welcomed the Supreme Court’s order and called it a “big step” in exploring the truth behind accusations of surveillance against the government.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi only said PM and the Minister of Home Affairs could order Pegasus Spyware and allege that they had attacked national security while trying to destroy democracy through extortion and intimidation.
“PM is not above the nation” and must answer the question, he said.
Overcoming Journalists, Rahul said important questions now is whether Narendra Modi or Amit Shah immediately gets information collected through surveillance to various individuals – ranging from the election commissioners to politicians to the Supreme Court judges to private people – and whether foreign countries have Access to that data.
He said if it was true, it would be a criminal act and “the Indian government has attacked India itself with other countries”.
Kiri party said the court of court that the state could not get “free pass” every time by asking national security was justification from their stand.
CPM said, “The government refuses to provide categorical answers to SC whether the state bodies use pegasus spyware or not.
Stand avoid this, it itself, is the acceptance of their involvement in this matter.” “Because the court has observed that national security cannot be a closing to deny the concrete response, it is the government’s obligation to provide categorical answers,” he said.
The CPI Rajya Sabha MP Binoy Viswam said SC has “uphold the honor of the nation”.
He tweeted: “Because they want to hide the truth, they pressed my question in parliament after agreeing for a while.
Our fight to increase Pegasus in parliament was justified by the Supreme Court decision.”
