Jaisalmer: A man in the Sheo area of Barmer’s district allegedly poisoned his four daughters, threw it into the water tank and consumed his own poison.
The four daughters died, while the man, who was serious, was being treated at Barmer Hospital.
The police said the man, who was a widower, was annoyed at his in-laws who did not approve his marriage to his brother-in-law.
The man’s wife died three months ago because Covid.
His in-laws had submitted a case against him for killing the daughters.
Barmer SP Anand Sharma said the defendant, one Purkharam was a resident of Poshal Village.
His wife died three months ago after that the four daughters were raised in his in-laws’ house.

SP said that Purkharam on Friday night brought his fourth Jeeyo (8) Noji (5), Lakshmi (3) and Vasundhara (1.5) to his village.
On late at night he gave poison to all the four daughters and threw them into the water tank when they became unconscious and then, he tried to commit suicide by consuming insecticides.
SP said that Purkharam wanted to marry his brother-in-law to raise his daughter.
He saved a proposal before his in-laws but they did not agree.
Disgust with this, he took extreme steps.
The suicide note has been found from the phone.
Purkharam underwent treatment at the district hospital.
The daughter’s body was handed over to family members after postmortem by the medical council.
The police have recorded Purkharam’s statement and he recognized his crime.
