JODHPUR: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested an officer in the CENTER & Service Tax Department (CGST) in Jalore along with individuals for accepting bribes for registration of granite companies in Jalore.
Bribe was taken by a gas station seller for his name.
Officers have demanded Rs 2 lakh for work as bribes but during the verification of complaints, he settled for Rs 1 lakh during negotiations with a complainant.
GALI (ACB) Kailash Chandra Bishnoi said that a Khemraj complainant, who was the granite manager Jai Gurudev at Jalore had approached complaints, that the company was not active during the past time and was asked to re-register with the CGST department.
“He contacted the CGST (Jalore Range) supervisor Shyoram Meena with a company registration request,” Bishnoi said.
ACB, the Jalore Unit verifies the complaint where the officer agreed to complete the agreement on Rs 1 Lakh on the pressure of the complainant to reduce the amount.
Bishnii said, then Meena was also arrested along with Kartaram while the team chased Nitesh, who fled.
