Rajkot: For the third consecutive year in the winter, the Asiatic lion was once again placed near the city of Rajkot.
Three sub-adult lions were seen in Jetpur and Gondal Talukas villages in the last two weeks, the forestry department official confirmed to TI.
Forest officials suspect that lions come from the side of the Besan in Junagadh district close to the holy area.
Jetpur is very close to the sanctuary and the lion has traveled 35 km to reach this talukas.
This has become a corridor for lions.
According to forest officials, three sub-adult lions moved in Jetalsar, Thana Galol and the nearest villages and on Thursday they entered Gondal Taluka Village.
They also prey on wild, pet and livestock in one of the villages.
Lions roam from both directions Rajkot.
They were seen on Jalan Bhavnagar near Vichiya and Jas and Jetpur and Gondal in Junagadh Road.
According to the source, the lion came to the Jetpur and Gondal area of the Holy side and to the Jas and the area of the Amreli side.
Ravi Prasad Radhakrishna, Deputy Forest Conservator, Rajkot, told TOI: “This is the third consecutive year when adults add to Rajkot Regency.
In winter, there is enough water availability and a prey base due to good plants.

“Forest officials are not too close to the lion but supervise the distance and sensitive to villagers about their behavior.
In September, a group of six lions had traveled to Jetpur Samadhiyala Bordi village.
The lion has entered Halenda Jasdan Village, Sardhar and Tramba near the Aji Dam and Jetpur villages in the last two years at different times.
However, lions have not lived in the village permanently.
