Sourya Pahadiyas (one of the different sects of the Pahadiya community) from the village of Chhoti Pachrukhi in the Borio Block of Sahebanj Regency forced today to live under a constant environmental degradation in the area coupled with agricultural opportunities and livelihoods due to illegal mining.
Because the explosion was often done in dozens of stone mining units in the vicinity, Chhoti Pachrukhi and the surrounding villages were used to repeated earth vibrations.

Dust particles from stone crusher stone damage local flora and fauna too, he added.
“Because of the rampant mining activities, all the nature on the top of the hill has dried up or on the threshold.

Kabupaten Sahebanjj and Pakits are famous for the existence of rare fossils.
According to assistant professor of the Geology Department, Sahebanjang College, Ranjeet Kumar, fossil dates back to more than one hundred million years.
“This is a serious problem.
Rare fossils, which can illuminate the existence of the life of that era, are being explored indiscriminately and transported on a large scale to places far away,” he said.
Kumar suggested that indiscredible mining activities must be stopped immediately to save endangered tribal groups and local biodiversity.
Some villages such as Chhoti Pachrukhi, Amjola, Pangdo, Dhokuti and Gurmi face threats with administrative stakeholders who close their eyes to this problem.
“I have no choice but to mobilize the locals and forcibly close all illegal mining plants and destroyers in the Sahebanj District,” Hibbrom lobin, JMM MLA from Borio, told Ti by telephone.
Hibbrom has recently launched transportation by blocking stone chips and increasing the problem on the assembly floor.
Vibhuti Kumar’s mining officer denied having information about the suffering of the Pahadiya community.
However, he assured that the right steps would be taken against illegal mining.
“Efforts also occur in stopping all types of illegal mining,” he added.
