St John’s (Antigua): Former Skipper Ramnaresh Sarwan has been appointed as a voter to the senior election panel and West Indies Youth to 2024.
The appointment of Sarwan was confirmed during the Council of Cricket West Indies (CWI) meeting on Thursday.
He will serve as a member of both panels until June 2024.
The top ex-dough joins the Great Batter of Desmond Haynes, the newly appointed West Indies’ main voters, and the head of coach Phil Simmons on the senior panel and former Haynes leg spinner in the panel to handle youth elections.
“I want to thank the CWI and everyone involved to give me this opportunity to re-serve western Indian Cricket, as a member of the selection panel.
I am passionate about cricket games and especially West Indies cricket and have been asked to contribute.
Not hesitate,” Sarwan said.

Desmond Haynes and Mr.
Robert Haynes, and two head coaches, and everyone involved in the development of this sport, we really love,” he added.

During his two and half-year tenure, Sarwan, will choose a team for four ICC Marquee events including, two World Cup T20 (2022 and 2024), ODI World Cup (2023) and the final of the world test championship (2023).
The former captain, who played 87 tests and 181 internationally one day between 2000 and 2013, will drop from his current role as Chair of the Senior Council selection panel Cricket Guyana to focus on his new work and avoid conflicts of interest.
CWI President Ricky Skerritt said: “I am happy to confirm that Ramnaresh Sarwan has agreed to accept voter positions in the Senior Panel and the CWI men’s youth.
He is a game student, and knows what is needed from our young cricket in sequence to achieve international success.
