Cuddalore: Cobra Albino Rare (popularly known as Cobra Putih) Hatchling was saved by animal lovers and Selvam Snake Savior alias Chellaa from the Sewers in Cuddalore City on Wednesday.
Chellaa received a dangerous call from Ravi, working in a private company, complaining that ‘hatching pink snakes was found in the sewer near her house in Velisemandalam in the city.
Chellaa rushed to the place and saved a hatchling snake.
When he cleaned the saved animal, he realized that reptiles were the hatching Albino Cobra, who might not be more than five days.
“Cobra lay eggs at once.
Any birds may reach one of the hats and may accidentally fall on the sewer while flying because I can’t find a hatcher in the drain.
Hatchling is less than 20cm long and maybe around five days,” Chellaa said.
This is not the first time Chellaa saved Cobra Albino in the district.
He said he had saved the Adult Albino Cobra and seven Longukik included being saved on Wednesday on four occasions in the last three years in the district.
“Last year I saved five Palka Albino Cobra from a factory in the Sipcot Industrial Area.
Two years ago, I saved an adult Albino Cobra sized four legs and hatched beforehand from a house,” Chellaa said.
He decided to release hatching into the forest.
Chellaa holds the deputy conservator of the Albino Cobra forest in Puducherry Vanjulavalli Sridhar, said that the cobra albino was rarely found.
“Albino Cobras is rare.
It’s less frequent to see the cobra adult albino.
These white snakes are white because of some variations in their pigmentation genes.
In general, the albino cobra is recorded with a different shaped hood pattern of normal cobra.
Longukik is more toxic than adults because their muscles may not be fully developed and they spit more poisons, unlike adult snakes that can control the poison quantity to be spit by controlling their muscles.
People including snake savings are not negligent when handling poisonous snakes, “Vanjulavalli said.
