Nagpur: Central Indian veteran artist and Teacher’s portrait Dr.
Pramodbabu Ramteke works from the creative trip six decades on display at the National Art Gallery (NGMA), Benteng, Mumbai, since the last week of September.
Ramteke has been chosen by the Ministry of Culture, the Government of India, for ‘retrospective exhibition’ in Ngma which is considered a lifelong achievement award in the world of art and painting.
The ministry chooses the artist for this exhibition based on maximum service and service artists in art.
“It’s a rare honor for every painter.
Canvas and color synonyms of my life for more than sixty years now.
I want to continue working for years as I can,” Ramteke said.
Ramteke is a Nagpurian and alumnus of Sir JJ School of Arts from where he gets a master’s degree in art in painting in 1975.
He has been part of the institution as a professor and then retires as a HOD from the Painting Department in the Chitrakala Mahavidyalaya Government, Nagpur .
Ramteke is known for painting a portrait of Dr.
Babasaheb Ambedkar who has been officially accepted by the government.
One can see the same in a government company.
The title ‘Open Mind – Retrospective Pramod Ramteke’, this exhibition is a milestone not only for him but also for art in Nagpur.
Ramteke has now joined the league of Indian Stalwarts of Modern Art.
Ngma will send its catalog to the international art gallery as a leading Indian artist.
The exhibition will end on November 20 at the Sir Cowasji Jehangir General Hall in Mumbai.
