CORAPUT: Following the estimate of the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) on Cyclone Gulab, Rayaganada government has increased efforts to ensure zero victims.
The official source said Typhoon tended to make a land near Kaingapapatnam between Gopalpur and Visakhapatnam on Sunday night.
This will bring heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds to South Odisha.
All prevention steps have been taken to ensure minimum damage and zero victims in this district.
While officials are high warning, additional steps have been taken in vulnerable areas, said Collector (Rayagada) Saroj Kumar Mishra.
According to collectors, because there will be heavy rain, situations such as flood floods are likely to rise in Rushikulya, Nagavali and Vanshadhara Rivers.
Landslides in the district cannot be ruled out.
Some villages in Gudari, Gunupur and Kalyansinghpur Blocks and Seskhal in the Ringgada Block are located in a landslide prone area and if the people needed to live in these areas will shift to safer places, he said.
While the district government has canceled the leave of all his employees for the next two days from Sunday, has mobilized seven odraf teams and two NDRF teams for rescue operations, if needed.
The district has kept adequate deceased food at the Panchayat level and has begun to shift pregnant women to the nearest health center.
Officials have been asked to patrol the river embankment flowing in the district and to constantly update the district control room on the water level in the river, he said.
