Gurgaon: Tau Devi Lal Park – One of the three parks managed by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will soon get recycled water for maintenance.
Authority currently manages the park using fresh water but plans to use recycled water instead.
GMDA is currently planning the construction of underground tanks with pumping machines and distribution pipes along the air force station, Jalan Old Delhi, and Sanath Road to supply recycling water to the park.
In addition to knowing Devi Lal Park in Sector 22, GMDA maintains Leisure Valley Park in Sector 29 and Botanical Gardens in Sector 52.
The last park maintained using recycled water.
“From three parks handled by us, we are currently using wastewater treated from our waste treatment plants to maintain Leisure Valley Park and Botanical Garden.
Tau Tau Devi Lal, however, so far maintained with fresh water because there are no pipes in the area Where the park can reach wastewater treated, “said a senior GMDA official who did not want to be named.
This project has received approval at the GMDA Cell Planning Cell (CPC) meeting in July.
The GMDA CEO then directs officials to speed up work.
It costs almost Rs 3.19 Crore and takes around six months to complete it, according to GMDA.
This will require a three-year defect accountability period.
“At present, we have floated tenders, inviting online offers for the project through e-tendering mode.
We hope to complete this project in the second half of 2022,” the official said.
During the past month, GMDA has increased efforts to ensure more recycled water use.
A senior GMDA official said the authority now worked with the city of Gurugram (MCG) to supply recycled water to maintain a garden, a community center and green belt in the latter jurisdiction.
