Patna: A young man, who has been depressed after his girlfriend dumped him for other boys, allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at his home in Kashinath Lane in Lohanipur under the area of Kadamkuan here on Tuesday.
Youth, Shaiilav Raj, who was in his 20s, worked as an executive assistant on a contract at the Patna District Transportation Office.
Sho Kadamkuan Police Station Vimlendu said the initial investigation revealed that Raj suffered depression when his girlfriend had dumped it and left with other boys.
“Family members rushed to a local hospital where he was declared dead by a doctor,” Sho said.
He added it was unclear what Raj was consumed by Raj because there were no such substances found from his room.
Raj is accustomed to living with his mother and sister.
His other relatives live separately in the same area.
Vimlendu said family members alleged that Raj had a relationship with a girl and he even lived in his house during the Covid-induced class.
He said there were no suicides recovered from the place.
“We came to know from family members who used to be used by the girl by telephone that she would take extreme steps if she refused to become her life partner,” Sho said.
He added that the Raj family member so far did not file a written complaint in connection with this case.
“However, they accused Raj to commit suicide because of the girl.
It was revealed that when she left, the girl had put a condition before Raj that he would marry him only if he arranged Rs 20 lakh for him.
However, this accusation needs to be verified,” he said .
Citing Raj family members, Sho said the girl, who was preparing for a medical entrance exam, had shifted to Delhi after leaving Raj.
