MySuru: The tourism and hospitality industry is the worst affected sector during the first and second wave of Covid-19.
Recently, after a decline in the number of cases and high vaccination numbers, these sectors witnessed the green shoots of recovery, however, fear will again cause fear for those in the hospitality industry, with many tourists canceling their bookings and booking hotel rooms.
According to stakeholders in the tourism industry, December 15 to January 5 is the peak tourism period.
However, now they are afraid because the omicron variant appears, many tourists may not appear this year.
C Narayana Gowda, President of the Association of Mysuru District, said that for the tourism sector, the period was very important.
“In the past few days, around 30% of advanced orders have been canceled, while the number of tourists who arrived here fell 50%,” he said.
“Information that is not verified causes problems for the tourism sector.
We ask people not to panic,” he said.
BS Prashanth, the honor of Mysuru’s travel association, echo a similar fear.
“Many cancel their foreign package trips after this new variant appeared.
We witnessed the new variant effect, because unverified information was scattered,” he said.
Although tourism in Kodagu has not seen a decline or cancellation, because the omicron variant appears, tourists are afraid of traveling.
B G Ananthashayana from the Coorg Homestay Association said that there was no cancellation.
“However, we got a call about the current scenario.
