Vadodara: The famous multifacet artist Rini Dhumal died in the city on Wednesday due to heart stop.
He is 73 years old.
Often called workers by people of my contemporaries and friends, Dhumal came to Vadodara to pursue BA in painting and then went to get the MA in making printing from the MS Art Faculty at the University.
Dhumal then went to study with Sir Stanley William Hayter in Atelier 17 in Paris on the French government scholarship and also served with famous Printmaker, Krishna Reddy.
He continued art practice, both in making printing and painting, even when he worked as a teacher at MS University.
Serving as Associate Professor in the Graphic Arts Department and then as a Professor and Head of the Painting Department, Dhumal left MSU in 2005.
“He continued his work from his studio after leaving the university.
Every time we visited him, he would be busy working in his studio,” Jyoti Bhatt said, “said Jyoti Bhatt, Other famous artists.
Dhumal considers women as inspiring and try to describe females in many forms through their work.
His works are displayed in the museum and several main galleries including the Gallery of Sakshi and Tao Art Gallery in Mumbai and even abroad.
Dhumal has also received many awards and recognition of his work.
Dhumal contributes significantly to bring a prompriming to the front line of pedagogy and art practice.
