Nagpur: The government has detected tax avoidance and service tax (GST), which also includes excise and service taxes before 2017, with RS93,375 crore tones.
This was revealed in RTI’s reply by the Directorate General of Zonal GST Intelligence (DGGI) members in major cities throughout India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh and others.
Previously, the tax evasion of RS9.359 Crore was reported by the DGGI office headquartered in Delhi for the last six financial years, once again in replying to the RTI query, which was reported by TOI on January 9, Avoidance of RS93.375 Crore came so that from more than 7,000 Notifications sent to Various Taxes by Law Enforcement Agency who worked under the Ministry of Finance of the United States between the Financial Years 2011 and 2021.
Stunned by not recovering a large number, RTI Activist Abhay Kolarlar, which has submitted a query in this matter, has made a letter to the Minister The Finance of Union Nirmala Sitharaman showed DGGI’s failure to monitor tax avoidance and also to act against absent for more than a decade.
“The Indian government has established DGGI to control central excise avoidance, service tax and GST.
It seems that this agency fails to control the embezzlement of taxes and its quantum increases rapidly every day.
As a result, the hard-earned money from a normal man goes to a tax avoidance bag,” he said in the letter.
According to him, DGGI has registered thousands of tax avoidance cases in the last ten years, involving avoidance of almost one lakh crore, if cities like Chennai and Kolkata are taken into account, whose numbers are unknown.
“We have calculated the RS93.375 crore numbers through replies received from various DGGI offices throughout the country.
It clearly shows that tax avoidance of GST and other taxes increases every year, resulting in economic inequality in the community,” he said.
Emphasizing the need to reform the tax administration system, activists have made several suggestions for Sitharaman to monitor avoidance and restore the amount.
Indicates that the Direct Tax Council (CBDT), and the indirect and customary tax center (CBIC) have failed to punish its development by sending it to prison, Kolarkar called him to strengthen prosecution, and monitor cases, and publish their details on the DGGI website.
“The Ministry of Finance must direct CBIC and CBDT and their directorate to publish their annual performance reports on their website.
It also has to fill around 80,000 empty posts, preferably with accountant charter, cost accountant, data analyst and legal graduates for effective control on embezzlement.
It must allow other tax discounts (roads, property, GST) from income tax to a certain extent, “he said.
Suggestion for the Minister of Finance * conducted a study to find quantum tax avoidance * Strengthen cases & monitoring cases * Appoint 20,000 Special Officers in CBIC & CBDT * Fill in 80,000 Blank Posts in CBIC & CBDT * Reducing indirect tax levels from 18% 12%
