Salem and the Namakkal District Police have banned new year celebrations.
Salem Spree Abhinav said that because of Covid-19 and new Omicron variants, the state government has banned celebrations in hotels, farm houses and individual huts.
“Hotels, lodges and lodges in Yercaud should not allow their customers to celebrate the magnificent new year.
We have formed a special team to monitor 130 hotels and lodges in Yercaud,” he said.
Namakkal SP Saroj Kumar Thakur said the criminal action would begin against those who violated the government’s orders.
“People should not go on a vehicle, especially on bicycles.
Vehicles will be confiscated and the case will be ordered to the owner,” he said.
“We have formed 93 special teams, which will be deployed in places where people usually gather for celebrations.
We have also established 11 checkpoints throughout the district.” TNN
