LONDON: The leading Indian and World player number 15 Saurav Ghosal on Wednesday is called Professional President Squash Association (PSA), replacing the world number one Ali Farag.
As a male president, Ghosal will sit on the PSA board of directors.
Speaking to PTI, Ghosal said it was a great honor for him and assured that his new role would not have an impact on his career.
“The focus is still very much playing.
That (the PSA role) is a great honor for me.
My role is to encourage the interests of the players and broadly guide boards to develop interests throughout the world,” said 35.-year.
Ghosis, the only Indian who reached the top 10 ranks of the PSA world, replacing Farag, who has resigned to spend more time with his family after four years in roles.
Ghosal will serve with Sarah-Jane Perry, who will start another term as a PSA female president.
This will be a two-year term.
“I am happy to welcome Saurav, Ashley and Ahmad to our board of directors and I am sure they will bring various skills and experiences to the association,” said Chairman of the PSA Ziad Al-Turkey in a statement.
“There is a dramatic increase in playing and producing opportunities in tours and increased income throughout the association over the past decade and I believe Professional Squash has a very bright future.” I hope to work with all three.
