Tamil Nadu led and issued an amendment to the PCA Act on January 23, 2017 which released Jallikatu (bull-taming sports).
Less than a month later, the Karnataka Majelis followed him and passed a similar amendment on February 13, 2017 which released the ‘Kambala’ (Traditional Buffalo Racing) and Bullock Cart Racing Sports from Ambit Act PCA.
Maharashtra Assembly was the last take the same route and changed the PCA Act on April 6, 2017 to allow Bullock train races.
Many petitions are submitted in SC which challenges the constitutional validity of amendments by TN and Karnataka.
