Bengaluru: The government is ready to provide midday food to government and school students assisted from October 21 after a one and a half year gap.
The Ministry of Public Instruction has sent reminders to all schools that ask the teacher to make the necessary preparations.
With offline classes for grade 6 to 10 after continuing and the department in the process allows them to grade 1-5 students as soon as the Dasara holiday ends, the government has made a decision to restart the supply of midday eating.
There is also a request from parts of parents, especially from urban areas, to restart the scheme.
Former Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Suresh Kumar has raised the problem last week and even met with the Chairman of the Minister of Basavaraj Bommai.
The midday food was stopped at all schools starting March 15, 2020 because of a pandemic.
But after the intervention of the Supreme Court, the government began to provide food for students.
The teacher has been asked to get a kitchen and food storage area that is cleaned and keep the gas stove and other equipment ready.
The steps have been taken to supply framagrains to school before October 21 and if there is an institution not accepting it, they are asked to buy them from the nearest reasonable price store.
The teachers have also been asked to ensure that only the chef and assistant who have taken two covid vaccine doses are allowed to cook.
More than 50 lakh students from class 1 to 10 are beneficiaries of the scheme.
