Kolkata: Metro Railway has planned to improve security settings in Park Street, Maidan and Esplanade Stations on Christmas and New Year’s Eve, because footsteps are expected to be high in the celebration season.
“Metro RPF organizes the extra spread on these three stations to manage the expected major riots on two days,” said a Metro spokesman on Wednesday.
The Women’s RPF team will be present to ensure the security of women and children, he said.
A special armed team consisting of SI, ASI and Four Staff, including two women, will be deployed at three stations from 11am to the end of service at 10:30 a.m.
on two days.
Metro will add 10 services on Saturdays starting from Christmas, and four on weekdays from Monday, to meet increasing in a hurry.
