Colva: Matka operator in the state has been told by their friends in the police to lie low until the election with the state legislature has ended.
Matka gambling is a profitable business in Goa and almost unable to rest.
Operators have now compiled new ways to avoid attention.
While shops and outlets where bets are accepted openly now closed, the business continues.
“Bets are accepted by telephone or by meeting the gambling in different locations,” said a source that understands Matka Business well.
“I have contact with two dealers with whom I regularly place bets.
Now I just make a call, place bets (on the winner number) and confirm through the ‘slip’ image sent on WhatsApp.” Some operators request bets to be placed on WhatsApp and calls Not answered from the bookie was taken as a confirmation that the bet was received.
The gambling form obtained its name because of numbers – from 00 to 99 – at first withdrawn from a large pottery pan known as Matka.
The form of gambling pays you Rs 90 for each rupee you put on the winning number.
“Matka’s business is fully based on trust.
One or two days after you put bets on calls or WhatsApp, someone must make a relaxed visit to the place to pay the bookie or collect the winning amount.
Everything deals with cash,” said a source.
According to Bandar Gambling, they have been told by the police that there is a danger that the authorities can act on the road for elections.
Previously, another bookie said, the candidate would make a large amount of cash with them with instructions that someone would come and collect it.
In the end the attack, the police will confiscate cash and gambling will end up in the politician.
“We are often sandwiched between police and politicians.
To avoid such a situation, it was decided that it was best to close the store during the election time,” said Bookie.
Police sources confirmed that Juit had been asked to lie because high-ranking officials involved in conducting elections to visit various villages, and if they pay attention to illegal activities, law enforcement agencies transported.
