Goa: Politics makes a strange sideboard.
It could not be more true than in the case of the BJP Porvorim Rohan Khaunte candidate.
Until one and a half months ago, Khaunte was one of the most vocal critics of BJP and the Chairman of the Minister of Pramod Sawant, even called him ‘Pappu’ and compare it with Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro for mismanagement which caused hundreds of deaths in the smallest cans of the country.
But today, Khaunte is a change man.
In the Neo-Safron avatar, he has thrown out his criticism not only a party and sawant but even put his ideology in the backburner.
Men who took the power of BJP and Manohar Parragar and won their own constituencies for two terms in 2012 and in 2017 supported by Congress, 901 winners and 4,213 votes – seem to have developed cold feet to do it themselves.
After the upper-class political drama who saw it tempt the congress – there was a theory floating around it so he decided not to join after it denied the ticket to his brother Rajesh from Santa Cruz – and even announced that he would be independent again, Khaunte finally wore a saffron robe Middle of the opposition from BJP Porvorim Mandal.
Ask around the constituency and someone gets a variety of reasons for changing the color.
If some find conspiracy theories about how Khaunte “squeezed” to join BJP, the others said he wanted to make sure that long anti-farmers and hatred of him would not translate into defeat.
“As independent, Khaunte will have a smooth voyage like a 2017 poll,” said a political observer, wondering what made him embrace a party.
Constituency not without problems.
Urbanization of recklessness from the villages of Salam-do-Mundo and Socorro with buildings in remote areas, reducing green patches, irregular water supply and crime such as land offers, forgery of property documents, murder meter cases (which are burned alive places the RTI application Against the Builder) has been in the mind of voters.
With the congress who lacked the depth of the organization and the base in Porvorim, it has now been submitted to the prospective TMC candidate who was closed and TMC Vazarkar to challenge Khaunte.
Vazarkar, who had joined BJP before the election of Zilla Panchayat in 2020 and was a danger for his nomination, left the party after entering Khaunte and joined TMC.
Vazarkar also worked together with former BJP Minister Michael Lobo to defeat Khaunte candidate from Socorro in the election of ZP.
The former Porvorim Congress Blok President Shankar Phadte is now a NCP candidate, after leaving the party to join TMC and then find Vazarkar was given an entry, decided to move.
Congress has decided to involve Vikas Prabhudesai, hoping that the fight between Khaunte and Vazarkar will give them breathing space.
The constituency consists of three Panchayats-Socorro, Penha-de-Franca and Salvador-Do-Mundo.
Of these, the first two were controlled by Khaunte, while Salvador-Do-Mundo was with Vazarkar.
But it is a friendly and sophisticated Khaunte image that he has been strongest for years, along with his ability to stay connected with his constituents, resolve their problems and bring some development work such as the Pancrayat complex, sports facilities, fire stations, and science and science and The park community that has given him profits.
What must still be seen is the extent to which voters give faith in Him on the BJP avatar.
